Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for singers who love singing choral music! If you’re comfortable singing four part unaccompanied (a cappella) music, know your way around a choral score, and love working in a supportive, collaborative rehearsal environment making incredible music, we would love to meet you. We’re looking to build a roster of singers to sing concerts throughout the year as their schedules allow. We have a short rehearsal calendar in order to allow singers to join us who may have busy schedules or other choral commitments to keep.

Everything you need to know
The Specifics
We are building a project-based SATB chamber ensemble to sing concerts throughout the year. Our next concert is The Sun Never Says on August 21, 2025 at St George’s, Bloomsbury. The concert features pieces by Jocelyn Hagen, Dan Forrest, F. Melius Christiansen, and Stephanie Martin and features the premiere of O Cyclamen by Ilyas Iliya.
Concert Day
The concert is August 21, 2025 at 8:00pm, and should last about an hour and twenty minutes. We will gather at 7:00pm that day to warm-up and discuss any last minute details. Doors will open to the public at 7:30pm, and all seats are general admission. A link to purchase tickets is available on our website.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals are all held at St Giles’ Cripplegate, EC2Y 8DA, and are required. Our work is collaborative and working together is the only way to create our unique artform. Rehearsals are scheduled for the following dates and times:
- Tuesday, August 5 – 7:00-9:30pm
- Sunday, August 10 – 1:15-3:45pm
- Tuesday, August 12 – 7:00-9:30pm
- Thursday, August 14 – 7:00-9:30pm
- Sunday, August 17 – 1:15-3:45pm
- Wednesday, August 20 – 7:00-9:30pm at St George’s
Rehearsals will start on and end on time, and will include a short tea break halfway through.
Audition
We have scheduled several days to meet with potential new singers, with time slots scheduled every 15 minutes. You should prepare a solo to sing that suits your voice and makes you shine. If you require piano accompaniment, our artistic director will accompany you. You will also be asked to sing into your high and low ranges and to do a bit of sight-singing. We want you to be as comfortable as possible during this meeting, so let us know what we can do to put you at ease.
Auditions are scheduled:
- Wednesday, July 30 – 7:00-9:00pm
- Saturday, August 2 – 1:00-4:30pm
- Monday, August 4 – 7:00-9:00pm
All auditions will take place at St Peter de Beauvoir Town, N1 4DA. Other times can be scheduled, as needed.
Results of auditions will be sent via e-mail on August 4.
Cost
There is no cost to singers and scores are provided by the ensemble. Donations toward the choir are, of course, welcome and appreciated.
Concert Attire
Concert dress is black. We don’t care what you wear as long as you are comfortable, what you’ve chosen is appropriate to the special nature of our concert, and nothing you’re wearing is distracting from the music we’re singing.
Music Reading
You should be comfortable with choral scores, how to mark music during rehearsal, and general music terminology of dynamics, tempi, and expressions. You should be comfortable reading musical scores written for SATB parts, including part divisions of each section. Our rehearsals move quickly. Our scores will be distributed with breaths and other markings already annotated in order to maximize our time singing. You don’t need to be a cracker-jack sight-reader, but you should know your way around a choral score, and expect to look at your music outside of rehearsals.
What does “Project-based” Mean?
We know that demands on peoples’ time are always increasing and that singers are busy people, either with other music ensembles or other community activities, in addition to work, friends, and family. We want you to be able to commit as much or as little time as you want. We’re holding auditions primarily for our August concert, but we’re looking ahead. If you’re successful in your audition, you can continue to sing with us, provided you can commit to our rehearsal schedule. If you need a break for an upcoming concert, let us know, and we’ll add someone else from our roster.
